rise804 Not sure how i ended up on the page in the 1st place, but Ithacas Mean's description intrigued me enough to randomly sample a couple of 10second sections which was enough to convince me to buy it. Ithacas description is perfect & i really can't say it better. this is a perfect little piece of longform musical art. by my 2nd listen, later that day, i'd bought most of Peter's discography. it connected that much. Favorite track: Horseback record (COMBINED MIX).
Ithacas Mean
Ithacas Mean thumbnail
Ithacas Mean One of the best pieces of music that I've found on Bandcamp, period (that's not hyperbole!). A captivating journey that flows seamlessly between earwormy classic rock, lush jazz instrumental interludes, Grateful-Dead-style jams, and krautrock experimentation. I highly recommend this one!

oh Benzy, what can i do? when i'm living without you this nervous feeling it cuts through. maybe i'll just let you rule me. oh, every time you return, you know, it makes my soul churn. oh, when will i learn? feels good to let it pass me by. oh Benzy, take me away to ambivalence and gray. that's where i'll stay for every lost day. in time i'll pay for every lost day. in time i'll pay. [pete plays with themself] [pete makes fun] of you [pete plays a bit more with the sand and toys] oh, you got to reason with me, you got to reason with me, you've got to reason with me girl yeah, you've got to reason with me, you've got to reason with me, you've got to reason with me girl oh, 'cause i understand how to make ammends but you don't wanna talk about it. and with this reprimand comes a new rebrand but you don't a want no talkin' about it, nah 'cause you can't stand. baby, baby you can't stand no no more. oh yeah. baby, you can't stand, oh, for you. for you. (you've got to understand) you're making it [you've just gotta let it go my friend.] kind of hard for me to exist. (that we have it together.) oh baby, you've got to play by my rules 'cause i'm playing it cool, yeah. cuz baby, baby, you can't stand. nah baby, you can't stand no-woah more. no no no more. baby you, you, you can't stand-uh. no, you can't stand! ["how'd you like a beaver to drown in your pool?" asks the synthesizers] [motorik responds, gently. beer bottle dance. "is that three?" somebody asks.] [a collapse is a jazz cue, for jazz] "and now that we're bringing it on back folks, we're reelin' it in! we're comin' on back to the peter campanelli show, and is a welcome back, then a i'd like to bring it welcomed on back for our host, peter, yeah! everybody give it up for... 26. (N/A) a horse, of course

sounds best with headphones or nice stereo speakers. i made it louder than the usual i think.

i began writing and recording this album in october of 2016 and was finished november of 2017 with the double-sided mix. the single "a horse, of course," was recorded on friday, december 8th but is a song i wrote during the summertime. in july, maybe.

thank you so much to anyone who gives a listen. thank you to all who helped me make this album, from the players to the people in my life who made it possible for me to make this. to anyone who has shown me support or encouragement, i remember that and i think about it each day. thank you.

special thanks to nick grondin (www.nickgrondin.com) for helping me figure out the math behind "Neo-Graben"'s tempos. to Jordan Perry for an honest review of my last record (www.laketheatercafe.com) go here if you're in ever oregon]. and to Jorge (George) Cajías Calvet for the 3 minute mastering lesson.

A NOTE ABOUT THE "HORSEBACK RECORD": here's a reminder that riding a horse is a choice; you can get off at anytime. though, keep this in mind; the horse is trying to take you there too and it is going to take a lot longer to walk.
